A note from the artist, Jessica White, regarding AI:

I do not claim to create art via AI, but I do create some assets with AI, and then photobash and composite them into my work.

Here's what I did with this Crochet image:
I designed each crochet square by hand, and then fed each design into an AI upscaler to get a crochet-style effect. This way I created around 50 crochet-like base images for each square. I then photobashed sections from multiple images together to create the final square. Then I 'stitched' that together with the other squares in Photoshop. 

This process took me almost a month, and the final file has hundreds of layers.

Is this considered "created in large part with the assistance of AI generators"?

There is a problem moving forwards because every artist uses Photoshop, which now has AI generators built in (not just Generative Fill, but many tools powered by the Firefly engine). So, will every artist using Photoshop now have to declare they "created with the assistance of AI generators"?

  • A poster is only included if the box cover says "Poster Included" below our logo.
  • In 2023, our 1000 piece to 275 piece boxes downsized from 10" x 14" x 2.38" to 8.25" x 11.25" x 2.0" and a depth of 3.75" for the 2000 piece. However, until all retailers and our warehouse have completely sold out, there will be a mix of box sizes. Please check for this detail if that matters to you.
  • Pre-2018 we did not include posters with our puzzles. The pre-2018 box frame colour is beige as opposed to green, blue, or red/rust.
  • Modular boxes that are a "square-ish" size of 7.5" x 8.0" x 2.5" do not include posters.
  • There have been no changes to the Floor and Tray Puzzles.

Gorgeous but not made by humans

Ai images are created by stealing from artists without their consent. I would rather if they were not used on puzzles at all, but if companies insist on doing it, they should at least make it VERY obvious on their product page.

We understand the emotions and rationale behind AI work. Unfortunately, it's not always a black and white situation. We're still learning when to consider something AI generated versus AI assisted versus... there are so many grey areas and we just want to do our best to respect the work of the honest artist, as well as that of our puzzlers who want transparency. We have listed Jessica White as the artist because we believe it to be true. And with other images that we have created in-house using AI, we have it listed the artist as Cobble Hill Digital. We're still shaping how we do this, but our goal is to be transparent, which is why we made the intentional decision to put some information on the box. And we have a note from the artist in the description, we would love for you to see how Jessica feels about this situation and having her work discounted as AI generated. Thank you.

Not real art

We bought this under the impression we were buying art made by a human, and supporting human artists.
We realized too late that this was not real art but art made by artificial intelligence. We used to be a fan of Cobble Hill Puzzles, but this will be the last one we buy. Extremely disappointing.

Beautiful Art Work

This puzzle was entertaining and a joy to work with. It will be framed and hung in my crafts room. Please do more hobby related puzzles.

What I appreciate about Cobble Hill Puzzles are the quality of the cardboard and graphics, the pieces interlock snugly, and the random cuts.

Puzzle pieces are very thin and small. I was very disappointed.
