Country Life Crochet: A Puzzle Woven with Art and Memories

My latest puzzle is a one thousand piece titled Country Life Crochet. Before I spend time putting a puzzle together, I must have a connection to it. My connection to this puzzle is I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. I did some checking trying to try to find out how this puzzle picture was created, and I was amazed at what I learned. I found each of the twenty-four scenes are made of a piece of crochet art. Crochet is a process of creating textiles by using a crochet hook to interlock loops of yarn. Crochet art is beautiful and purposeful. It is like painting with yarn. You are expressing your inner artist with the crochet hook instead of a paintbrush, using yarn instead of a canvas.

The puzzle picture is made up of twenty-four individual pieces of crochet art relating to country life. The artwork and intricate detail shown in this puzzle is simply amazing. There is so much imagination, color, and presence in each one of them. Each of the mini crochet pieces displays a unique scene. Every crochet piece is special. With such a variety of topics including animals, farm scenes and flowers, this puzzle projects happy feelings. The bright colors in each square along with the colors framing around each square enables you to see each piece clearly as its own different scene.

They have been created using mostly muted colors of red, yellows blue, and green yarn. Many of the crochet pieces have the same color shades and patterns. It is amazing that artwork like this could be created using a few balls of yarn and a crochet needle.

This puzzle took me a little longer to put together than most but when I finished putting it together, I could not believe how great it looked. Having completed many puzzles in my lifetime this is one of the most beautiful I have had the pleasure of putting together.

As a side note, when I was about six years old my mother purchased a box of yarn and several crochet needles from an estate sale. She encouraged me to learn how to crochet so I selected the colors of yarn I wanted to use and made her several potholders. She was proud of those potholders.

I’m confused. Is this a puzzle OR a pattern for crochet?
Thank you
